Archives Clipping Revision 7:59 AM 2/3/2008
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This file addresses known issues with the released version of the Archives clipping file. The original binary erroneously connects several tiles together wrong. As a result, after falling into the street area you will re-enter the windows on the top floor, and the furthest window can not be re-entered at all. In addition, several tiles were given the wrong room designation, so falling from the window may make the wrong room visible or cause a temporary blackout.
If you are using the editor, place the 826160.bin file into the "clipping" folder. If you are using a rom, use the ips patch on an uneditted rom as directed. If you are using a GameShark, you can use the codes provided. Be sure to turn the codes off when Archives is not being played!

826160.bin-
This replacement binary addresses both issues. It is meant to replace the orignal 826160.bin file in the "clipping" directory of the main editor directory. As a result, all rebuilt roms will then use the new file.

ArchStanE/J/P.ips-
These patches can be applied to a copy of the original matching region rom to correct the same issues. All expect an unbyteswapped rom, and only use the patch matching your game's region. Use the patch when you are using an original rom. If you then set this as the base, uneditted rom file used by the editor, all subsequent patched roms will carry the corrected binary as well.

GameShark/Action Replay Code List-
If, and only if, you are using a GameShark or Action Replay, you can use these codes to add the same functionality as the patch above. You do not need the codes if the rom has already been patched. For users without a backup device, this is the only way to use the revised clipping on console.
These are specifically designed for multiplayer, but by changing the 'Multiplayer Hack' code to include a solo offset it will also - potentially - work on solo stages. This is not included however, since it would strictly limit the size of the solo stage setup and potentially cause in-game issues.
Only use the codeset for your region game.

NTSC-North America Codeset:
In addition to the clipping code itself, this requires a seperate block of code so the change is effective for 2-4 player. If the 'Multiplayer Hack' is not activated, the codes will only work on 4 player multiplayer matches. Note, the 'Multiplayer Hack' code also allows any 4 player multiplayer code to work properly with 2-4 players.

The 'Source' Folder-
This folder contains the editted clipping binary, a program that recomputes all the connection values for the file, and a list of manual connections to be set after normal connections are made. To recompile, run 'TileLinker.exe', then type in '826160.bin' at the prompt. The .man connection file that matches the filename of your input binary is then used if found. Manual connection files can be built with a hex editor, and each entry is 9 bytes long:

four-byte header code for the tile you wish to edit

number of face (01-0A/0F with proper patches) whose connection will change

four-byte header for tile to be linked to, or zeroes if a stop should be added

Note, each connection is assumed to be 1-way. To connect two faces together, you would need to set the connection for both faces.
